Here's another link to Ok Go's song, which I found on dooce.com. My kids tell me they like this one the best. Probably because they like how much gets destroyed in the course of the video. I'm a little worried that they'll want to try some of the ideas in our garage this weekend. Have fun listening. You just might want to dance, too. Or take a hammer to your television. (At least this is what it inspired in me.)
If you buy this re-make of "Everybody Hurts", the proceeds will help Haiti victims. And guess what? It was Simon Cowell, that surly judge from American Idol, who got everybody together to record it. It'll be available starting February 8. You can read more about it here.
A note about the song:
Some of you may remember the original REM version of "Everybody Hurts" from the early Nineties. Though I prefer the original, this version is not bad. It's a little less over the top than "Feed the World," as in no chorus with everyone singing their little stoned hearts out. And there aren't any guitar solos, which is always a plus in my opinion. However, there is a bit of trying to out-sing the other, but that's to be expected when you gather a bunch of soloists together. Look at it this way: When you want to sing along with this song, it'll be a lot more fun to imitate twenty-one voices as opposed to one. Just keep it to a shower concert so no one but the cat can hear.
